Description

Famed for her roles in such classic films and shows such as "His Girl Friday" and "Auntie Mame" Rosalind Russell (1907-76) was one of the best-loved stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood and Broadway. "Forever Mame" is a thoroughly researched and engaging look at Russell's life and works. Drawing on personal interviews and information from the archives of her husband this volume begins by chronicling her early attempts to find fame after graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. It then goes on to explore the reasons behind her move to Hollywood and her eventual rise to stardom. The volume concludes with her courageous battle against cancer and arthritis that claimed her life in 1976.
