The show proved an instant success and was subsequently transferred to the Fortune Theatre in the West End a little over three weeks later. The show would go on to run for 808 performances before switching to New York and the Golden Theater, where it managed a further 215 performances. Eventually, the show would be performed some 1,700 times between the launch in 1956 and 1967.
