It will of course be remembered that both roles required Julie to sing, a talent she was more than capable of, having served something of an apprenticeship in the musicals The Boy Friend and My Fair Lady. In later years Julie was to prove something of an all round entertainer, hosting her own comedy series on American television, appearing in other films that were not necessarily musical (10 with Dudley Moore being an obvious example) and making the occasional album.
