"Pirates! The Penzance Musical (Original Broadway Cast Recording)" is a album featuring the reimagined, jazz-infused production of Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance," set in New Orleans. The album, produced by Center Stage Records, The Broadway production, which has been praised for its unique take on the classic, runs through July 27th at the Todd Haimes Theatre.
The cast includes Ramin Karimloo as the Pirate King, Jinkx Monsoon as Ruth, and David Hyde Pierce as Gilbert/Major General Stanley. The musical features music by Arthur Sullivan with a new adaptation by Rupert Holmes. The production also includes Nicholas Barasch as Frederic, Preston Truman Boyd as Sullivan/Police Sergeant, and Samantha Williams as Mabel Stanley.
