Hugh Jackman broke through to stardom as the claw-wielding Wolverine in the X-MEN films. However Jackman's earlier roles had the charismatic Australian performing in musicals particularly a 1999 production of OKLAHOMA! where he portrayed the lead character Curly McLain. THE BOY FROM OZ marks Jackman's triumphant return to the stage as Peter Allen the 1970s theater icon (and a fellow Aussie). Although the production features an excellent supporting cast it's clearly Jackman's show as he belts out Allen's own tunes while dancing with a fierce flamboyant energy. tThe Lives of Met kicks things off with wah-wah guitar riffs and dramatic horn fanfare before settling into a thoughtful mood that allows the spotlight to shine on Jackman and his emotive vocals. Other numbers ride the roller coaster of Allen's life from the giddy highs to the tragic lows. Throughout THE BOY FROM OZ Jackman carries the show exuding a charm and grace that led to him winning a Tony Award for Best Actor in 2004.
