Whilst Diana would ultimately become the lead of The Supremes, a position later fully exploited with a subtle name change, both Mary and Florence were more than mere backing singers. Floâs vocals on the raucous Buttered Popcorn convey the double entendre lyrics of the song to perfection, whilst Maryâs lead on Baby Donât Go shows she was no vocal slouch either. There are no hits on Meet The Supremes, even though four tracks were extracted as singles. Initially mocked around Hitsville as âthe no hit Supremesâ, the girls would ultimately become Motownâs major hit making machine, but whilst this album may lack a hit or two, it does show the development of the group. It should be noted that whilst an album entitled Meet The Supremes charted in the UK in 1964, this has a slightly different track listing to the original presented here, including as it does a number of tracks from their second, successful album._x000D_p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 20px; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: #ffffff;"Tracklist_x000D_p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 20px; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: #ffffff;"1.
